This staining project was completed in late September of 2009. The job included cleaning and staining the siding, fascia, doors, and window and door frames only. Excluding all decks.
For the preparation we pressure washed and hand scrubbed the oxidizing siding using a decking scrub brush. Once dry, we even had to dry scrub the siding again using the decking scrub brush to remove the last bit of loose siding fibers that were raised from pressure washing and because of dust that had accumulated for so many years. We only caulked around weather concerning seams around doors and windows using a similar color of caulking as the stain.
We stained the home one thick and even coat using Sikkens Semi-Transparent SRD for exterior homes, decks, handrails, arbors, etc... This stain is the Best product on the market for your exterior wood packages. There are other products Sikkens offers as well that are excellent and provide other types of finishes for exterior wood. Check them out on the web at www.sikkens.com.
To apply the product we used a gravity fed, HVLP, fine finish sprayer to spray the product on, then a deck staining brush to back apply the product into the surface for the best look and to fill in the weathered and cracking wood siding.
Total this job took us approximately 50 hours to produce and costed our client $2,150.00 for all product, labor, and materials. This job will last 5-7 years and still be looking way better than these before shots until another coat of the same product will be needed.
